Increase Total Daily Energy Expenditure with Multitasking Moves

When you’re losing weight, one of the most important things to consider is “calories in, calories out.” That is, your “calories in” need to be less than your “calories out.” Eating less and focusing on calorie density will help reduce the amount of calories in. To increase calories out, you need to increase your total daily energy expenditure. You can do this through exercise, building lean muscle, being more active throughout the day, or all three.

I like to incorporate exercise moves like squats into my daily routine. This increases my total daily energy expenditure and makes the most of my time. I give a few suggestions in this week’s video, but there are literally endless ways to burn extra calories while going about your daily activities. Try doing ab exercises when your favorite TV show goes to a commercial break. Or get in the habit of doing 10 push ups before you take a shower.

Even if you don’t have time to workout today, adding these exercises into your daily routine will get you a little closer to your goals each today.
